Flood risk, ecosystem restoration meeting set
Chico Enterprise Record - 1/3/03

HAMILTON CITY - Flood risk and restoring the ecosystem along the Sacramento River near Hamilton City are subjects of a public meeting 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 9 at Hamilton Union High School Cafeteria.

Flood control and environmental experts will have exhibits on display at the event, organized by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

It is hoped the meeting will help gather information and ideas for the flood control and environmental study as well as to educate the public.

Part of the dialogue will also help to come up with a design plan that meets the community needs, a press release from the Corps stated.

Currently Glenn County, the Hamilton City Community Services District, California Reclamation Board and the Army Corps of Engineers are conducting a feasibility study for flood control and ecosystem restoration.

The study area is along west, bank of the Sacramento River from two miles north of Hamilton City to six miles south of the town. Many different plans will be developed and looked at.

Information will also be available on flood insurance for people living in the area.
